Presenter
John Scott and Travis Krampy of ColdCypress; Callahan, of CallahanTech.
Description
At this month's Pittsburgh Area SharePoint Users Group (PASUG), learn how to create a secure portal to enhance your relationships with customers, partners and suppliers. Understand the essential elements of comprehensive security management by employing a range of authentication providers, policy management, group management, and permission levels ranging from individual items in list to entire sites. Create custom web parts that allow access to information and applications that exist on other platforms and portals. Employ extensive and flexible customization for your user interface. Learn more about the ability to make the appropriate content visible to those whom it will be most relevant through Audience Targeting and more. This presentation will be followed by a presentation that will be delivered at vTech later this year, titled, "The Frugal Admin: How to get the most of the built-in web parts". During this session, Callahan will show you how to put some life into web parts without spending a penny. She will explore the existing web part templates and broaden the horizons of existing list view web parts. She will show you how to push them to the limit and turn your bland, hum drum home pages into the spectacular, useful, web part pages they were meant to be. Wow your users, impress your boss, and never wonder if you could have built yourself what you just paid someone else to make. NOTE: This second presentation will only be offered on Thursday, March 12.
Did You Know?

Did you know that one of the new enterprise features being introduced in SharePoint Server 2010 is Visio Services?  Visio Services, similar to Excel Services in MOSS 2007, enables the publishing of Visio documents to a web page, enabling them to be viewed without the user needing the Visio client or a Visio viewer plug-in.  This is accomplished using a new Visio Web Access web part, which enables basic navigation and exploration of a Visio diagram by end users, including the ability to have data linked to the diagram from external sources to be refreshed directly from within the web part itself.
